Public Statement in Response to ACMA Formal Warning
At Digibrite S.R.L., we wish to express our utmost respect and sincere gratitude to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) for its continued efforts in safeguarding the integrity of the online gambling environment. We fully acknowledge ACMA’s critical role as a regulatory body, and we appreciate the clarity and fairness with which the Authority communicates its expectations.
In June 2023, Digibrite S.R.L. was issued a formal warning under section 64A of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001, regarding the unintended accessibility of our services — Royal Reels and Reef Reels — to individuals physically located in Australia. Upon receipt of this notice, we treated the matter with the highest level of seriousness, and immediately initiated a full internal review of our operations, platforms, and user access controls.
We acknowledge the concerns raised by ACMA and, as a responsible operator, we accept full responsibility for any oversights that may have led to the findings in the investigation. Although we never intended to make our services available in Australia, we recognize that intention does not replace compliance. Therefore, we are deeply committed to ensuring that such situations do not occur again.
To that end, we have taken the following comprehensive corrective measures:
- Implemented advanced geo-restriction protocols to block access from all Australian IP addresses, across all platforms and devices.
- Updated our user onboarding process and T&C to clearly prohibit access from jurisdictions where our services are not licensed or permitted.
- Revised our internal compliance training and procedures to ensure our team is consistently aligned with the evolving legal landscape, especially in regard to Australian regulatory standards.
- Engaged with external legal counsel specializing in Australian gambling law to assist us in achieving and maintaining full compliance with the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.
We humbly and respectfully ask ACMA to consider reviewing our case in light of these corrective actions. We firmly believe that our current operational state reflects a strong alignment with the principles and provisions set forth by the IGA. We are absolutely committed to regulatory transparency, to the protection of end-users, and to cooperating fully with all relevant authorities.
Please know that it is not only our legal obligation, but also our ethical commitment, to uphold the highest standards of compliance and responsibility in every market where we operate. We admire the work ACMA continues to do in maintaining a safe and lawful digital space for Australian residents, and we are eager to demonstrate that our organisation has taken every possible step to honour that mission.
